Privacy
Last updated 30 September 2026.
This is a personal website. It has no advertising, no cookies and no contact form. Fonts and images are served from this site. The only other request your browser makes is to analytics.mybit.ca, my own visit counter, described below.
Visit statistics
I count visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that I run on my own server in British Columbia, Canada. No data goes to Google or any other company. For each page view it records the page address, the site that linked to it, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and an approximate location (country, region and city) looked up from your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored.
It sets no cookies. To tell a returning visitor from a new one within the same month it keeps a one-way hash of your IP address, browser and a secret that changes every month, so visits can't be linked across months or back to you. If your browser sends "Do Not Track", nothing is counted.
Server logs
The site is served by nginx on a server I run at DigitalOcean in Bangalore, India. Like most web servers it keeps a standard access log for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the response code, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. I use these logs to keep the server running and to block abuse (for example, repeated failed requests). They are rotated daily and deleted after 14 days.
A second log records only the site name, response code, response time and size of each request, with no IP address. My monitoring uses it to count requests and errors.
Stored in your browser
If you use the Light/Dark button, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it with your browser's site data settings.
If you email me at me@jaggi.cc, I receive your address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply, I don't add you to any list, and I don't share it.
Links to other sites
Pages link to other websites, such as LinkedIn, GitHub and the projects described here. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
